I don’t remember who sent this to me, but when I lived in the dorms, Walker 4 was the National Merit floor.  I’m not surprised in the least.

I try to explain to people how red the dirt is in Oklahoma and a lot people say “oh we have red dirt.” Yeah you might but is it this red?

Growing up poor we really didn’t get to travel a whole lot so I thought everyone’s dirt (except dirt in bags) had some kind red tinges to it. I also thought all lakes and rivers were red due to the dirt. When I was 12 we went to Texas and I saw a freshly ploughed field of black dirt. I was amazed by it.

While I could never live in Oklahoma again I do miss the fields of red dirt and have feelings of nostalgia when I see it.

16 years ago today, at 9:02 am, I felt and heard something while out on the playground.  Little did I know that this was the result.  168 people were murdered in Oklahoma City, including 19 children under 6.
Never forget and keep the families in your thoughts today.
